I'm pleased today that Selangor, The Red Giant (my state football (soccer) club) manage to go through to the quarter final of the most prestigious cup in Malaysia, the Malaysia Cup. Earlier before the tournament started, Selangor has set their mission to get the title for the 33th times. For the record, Selangor is the most successful team in the history of this tournament, last time win it in 2005, followed by Singapore by 24 times. [Malaysia Cup Wikipedia] So lets talk about Selangor a little then the journey so far for Selangor.

Tonight Result

Group D

I'll start with group D because Selangor is in it. As you can see, the second and the third place are really close. Selangor started this campaign with a loss to the T-Team. Selangor never beat T-Team in Super League this season. The script was same again. Selangor lost to T-Team in the both leg. Then, Kuala Lumpur make it more thrilling after beating T-Team at their home ground. Selangor then manage to get a win to PDRM since it will be embarrassing to not winning to the premier league club. At the fourth fixture against T-Team again in Selangor home ground, they lost again to T-Team and the head coach had decided to resign after embarrassing performance by the once-giant-team in Malaysia. For my opinion, K Devan was a good coach. He brought many championship to Selangor. JUST recently, his tactical has been questionable. Selangor have pool of talented players, many of them are in the National Squad or former National player. But they played really bad. The attacking were not sharp, the defence were so weak, incompetent signing goalkeeper and many more that bring down their pride as a giant in Malaysian football. After K.Devan resignation, I hope they'll do better in the next match. I've seen a better Safiq Rahim tonight as he is freely moving around pitch. In K Devan period, he is not stand up much despite he is National teams captain and awesome playmaker in the squad. Remember his freekick against Liverpool? Yeah, he's the one I'm talking about.
Group A

Next, I will talk briefly about other team/group because I'm spending too much space for Selangor only. Selangor will face Perak as the number one placing in the group stage. Despite suspension of their key player, Perak put up some awesome performance and that should Selangor aware of. Kedah was a champion in 2008 aren't lucky this time after Sabah shockingly played really well in this tournament. They didn't do well in the Super League, and Kedah need to hand over their place in Quarterfinal to Sabah. Kedah have an awesome striking force, UNFORTUNATELY they're sloppy in the defencive side. So they score a lot goals and conceded many goals at the same time.
Group C

The defending champion is on this group. Felda United almost making an upset to the champion after beating them 2-0 but unfortunately, they lost against the premier league team, Sarawak so Kelantan manage to catch up with them and tonight deciding match, Kelantan manage to get their revenge after beating them 2-0.
Group B

Lastly, in Group B Negeri Sembilan, last year finalist manage to be the top of the group, but only with the goal difference. I notice Negeri Sembilan still didn't use their twin power; Aidil Zafuan (defence) and Zaquan Adha (striker). Secret whttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifeapon maybe? Terengganu is in the sechttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifond place will meet Kelantan in the quarter final, that mean Final FA Cup rematch. Kelantan lost 2-1 at that dramatic matchhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif and surely doesn't want that happen again.

That's all for today, what a long entry. This year Malaysia Cup promising a great competition and awesome performance. So, what are you waiting for? Go support your favorite team and support local league. For those who can afford of course.

We'll meet again next time,
Wassalam and good bye.
